DLF Evolution – The Next Level

I've done it again! DeanLForbes.com has taken it to another level. Now, officially incorporated, Dean L. Forbes, LLC has stepped up the game by revamping the look and feel of the entire website.

And… this is just the beginning…

In the next few weeks, I'll be making some milestone changes specifically aimed at serving you in more effective ways. I decided to start with the look and feel because it just didn't represent me to the fullest. For starters, the website was missing my favorite color – BLUE!

So, I thought it was time to really inject a bit more of ME into the website. Certainly, this blog is for you – my gift – however, I felt it was important that it represent the true me as much as possible. Hence – the sea of blue you now see… you likes…

Be sure to browse the pages as I have added some new ones including some testimonials from some gracious attendees who have attended one or more of my programs. It was awesome to share this feedback because they are true testaments to why I do what I do. I am so humbled by the words that so many have used to describe their experiences either with the blog, my programs or me personally. It's an incredible feeling!

What's Next?

Coming soon… I will be updating the website to include other resources, tools and products that will further help you to fast track your personal growth and meet your ultimate goals. These updates will most definitely include everything that I have in the armory that has been successful and continues to be to this day.

To mention a few, I will be adding my favorite books, speakers and special items that can help you achieve the results you desire more quickly and effectively. Please note that none of these will be quick-fixes – you know we don't believe in that here. However, all the resources, tools and products made available to you through DLF.COM are guaranteed to help you significantly improve your success rate in all your endeavors if you choose to utilize them.

One thing to make clear is this…

I will never endorse any resource, tool or product unless it has been personally reviewed and/or tested by me. The only other time that I may endorse a resource, tool or product that I haven't reviewed or tested is if I can interview others who've been successful with it, report their story and then let you know how I came by the information. Essentially, unless the proof is in the pudding, DLF.COM will not endorse it.

Monetizing the Blog

Major changes that you will soon see on the blog are more ads by Google and other reputable companies. Not to worry, DLF.COM will only support relevant ads and will refrain from posting and/or remove any that are not relevant. The whole point of this website is to make sure that you are served in every way possible and in the most effective and efficient ways possible. Nothing less will suffice… so suffice it to say that if it doesn't work for you, it won't stick around very long.

Why monetize?

Since all the information on this website is provided for FREE, one of the major ways to keep the lights on is to advertise. Besides, I do believe in receiving a fair price for the value I provide and as such, monetization of the blog is necessary.

Ultimately, my goal is to spend all my time finding ways to continue to create and deliver value to others – to you. In order to do that, I am definitely going to have to make some cheese doing this otherwise I may as well turn the lights off right now.

People are from different schools of thought on this issue; many believe that a website that provides free information shouldn't have advertising on it. Sounds nice… and with all due respect to other people's opinions, that's just it – it just sounds nice.

Sure you can certainly maintain a website without advertising or monetization; however, that isn't me. Quite frankly, we live in a physical world with real physical needs; and while I don't do this for the money, I still have to make sure that I can maintain a physical existence while I am doing it. If I can't maintain a physical existence, I certainly can't do this.

Also, as I mentioned above, this is now an official corporation – Dean L. Forbes, LLC which means Uncle Sam will be coming for his piece of the pie every year whether I make money or not. Now you know as well as I do that you may be able to duck Uncle Sam but he always catches up to you. Just ask some of you now forgotten and bankrupt celebrities…

Why tell you all of this?

Simple, this blog as I have said numerous times is truly my gift to you and while I am the steward of the vehicle, I still want you to know and understand what happens to it. I think it is important that you know how your gift is treated, maintained and how it evolves. It's not that you need to know; it's simply that you ought to know.

Also, it helps me to hear your comments and feedback if you do have any to share. I am always interested to hear from you about how I can improve the website to make it even more beneficial and effective for you.

Check Out the New Me!

Finally – a new look and I feel that I truly like!

I have been toying with this for a while now; just to give the website a much needed enhancement. This look is definitely more representative of the content and me. Well, at least that's what I think.

Why You Shouldn’t Read My Blog

The title of this post may shock you; after all, the point of having a blog is that others will read the content. In fact, I expect it! With that said, it begs the question: Why would I write an article titled "Why You Shouldn't Read My Blog?"

One of my mentors once encouraged me to not only read books that interest me or that are in line with my principles and values but also to read those that are not. He said read often, read everything so that you might develop a more well-rounded view of the world and even if you derive no other value but that it strengthens your convictions in your own beliefs, it would still be totally worth it. You know what – he's right. I have found this lesson to be tremendously beneficial in my life.

Since I began publishing this blog, I have received many comments, questions, concerns, applause, praise, ridicule, indifference, love, support, challenges, rebuttals, alliance and so forth. What has been most interesting are the individuals that either peg me as a bull shit artist with the gift of gab or a guru with a magic pill to fix all problems.

The truth is that I am neither of the two and if you wish to continue to believe that I am either one, you shouldn't read my blog.

A journey not a pit stop

My blog, which is my gift to you, is a journey and not a pit stop. Many of us only desire the end result of hard work; however, we have little interest in the hard work part. Many of us have no desire to pay the price for greatness and yet still we claim to desire it.

Pit stops are for race cars and road trip bathroom breaks – not personal growth.

You have probably seen dozens – hundreds maybe – of websites all warning you to beware of "quick fixes" and all the while they are only buttering you up to sell you their version of a "quicker fix."

The truth is that there is no such thing – you won't find it here or anywhere else no matter what you've heard. Use your brains – I think you have one – and think for a moment…

If "quick fixes" really worked would anyone really have to sell it to you? Furthermore, you already know that if they did in fact produce desirable results – many people wouldn't even want to share the secrets.

If you are looking for a "quick fix" for your personal growth and development, you definitely shouldn't read my blog.

I am whatever you say I am…

When you read the content on this website; you are reading words that flow directly from my experiences. I put in my body, mind, heart and spirit into every post. Sometimes, they may not hit the spot for you and other times, they may be just what you need.

The truth is that my goal in writing and expanding upon this website is not only to grow personally but to ensure that what I am putting out is of value to others. While all of this is my passion, the work and the effort are all about you.

I am whatever you say I am – this means that the value that I represent to you is not how I perceive it to be but rather what you perceive it to be. I cannot take the audacious position of presuming exactly how I am a value to you – this is a very personal thing – something you must decipher on your own.

The way that you receive and interpret my work may be totally different from the way someone else does and that is ok – in fact – it's expected.

The most important thing is this; while you continue to visit and read the content here, you have a right to expect a value for your time. Whether the value helps you improve in your personal growth, build your character, jazz up your personality or simply strengthen your convictions, you should definitely expect to receive a value for your time.

If you are not deriving some kind of value to your life by spending time here, you shouldn't read my blog.

Compensation

I do believe that when you create and distribute value to others, you should expect to receive a fair compensation for the value that you provide. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Compensation can come in many forms – it is your choice what forms you choose to accept for the value that you create. In any event, there is no reason that you shouldn't get paid for the work you do.

Of course, getting compensated for the value you provide should not be confused with the reason you do what you do. In other words, if you do what you do only to receive compensation, then the value that you create and distribute will only be to you. If anything but your conscience (your spirit) is the guiding force what you decide to do with your life, your value to others will be greatly diminished.

As for this blog, my gift to you, the reason for its existence is untainted by the pursuit for the almighty dollar – compensation. The work I do here and in other places and my circle expand comes from within – it is my true passion and purpose in life and I do it because it brings me joy and fulfillment beyond my wildest dreams.

With that said, I am by no means naïve. We live, after all, in a material world and in this world, the way you sustain your lifestyle so that you can continue to create and distribute value to others is by earning a paycheck of some sort. Whether you work for someone else or you are an entrepreneur, the fact is you have to get paid or suffer the consequences.

While the reasons behind my choices do not include money in any way, I do expect to be paid a fair price for the value I provide. I like being able to care for my family and live a lifestyle that makes me feel good about what I have accomplished. I don't need materials to feed my ego; however, I do need to live somewhere, clothe myself and eat healthily.

If you don't think I deserve compensation for the value I provide – that's ok – you're entitled to your opinion. Nonetheless, I do expect fair compensation for the work I do – not because that's the reason I do it but because it is correct principle and it's how we sustain ourselves in the physical world.

If you don't believe that people deserve fair compensation for the value that they provide, guess what – you shouldn't read my blog.

Finally…

You shouldn't read my blog if you have no desire whatsoever to be better than you are today; to be of service to others; if you only wish to continue your meaningless pursuit of a mediocre life where you simply bounce from point to point with no real purpose or desire to seek it; with no openness to embrace change, respect differences, show love and receive love; if you choose not to be a human being, respect the universe and value principles; if you choose not to live a life in gratitude, appreciation, and generosity; if you have no hope for the future, if you believe in nothing and fall for everything; if you are a pessimistic cynic who thinks only of the worst in others while ignoring the best; if you only think of yourself first, foremost and always which is the mindset of a complete moron – YOU SHOULDN'T READ MY BLOG!

Putting First Things First

Hello my friends and thank you for visiting my new blog, DeanLForbes.com. I’m so glad to finally have it up and running. The journey so far has been a wonderful experience and I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly… even when it got down right frustrating and I felt like quitting. I still have the scars of it all which I wear proudly.

This brings me to the title of my first post, Putting First Things First. I want to take the time to give you an in-depth preview of how this idea came to be and what you can expect from me and this website for as long as you keep visiting.

Why Did I Start This Blog?

There’s a question that begs to be answered and I’m going to do just that.

I’ve been working in Corporate America for over 15 years in the fields of Finance, Sales, Consultation, Promotional Planning, Branding and Marketing. I have had so many wonderful experiences learning from the best at what they do and have had more than my fair share of opportunities to sit at the table with some of the finest minds of the last half century. I have also devoured and continue to vigorously seek out and consume more and more information on personal growth and effective self-leadership.

Armed with not only the knowledge I’ve gained from my many brilliant mentors but also with the information I’ve learned and embodied about personal growth and effective self-leadership, I’ve been able to consistently open doors where seemingly, there were none. I have been able to make profound and positive changes in my self-growth and have been able to build and cultivate long-lasting and fruitful personal and professional relationships. I have overcome the odds time and time again, especially when all the “naysayers” said it couldn’t be done – I did it!

That being said, at the end of 2008 I was offered an honorary membership to the Cambridge Who’s Who professional network. The company is very well-known for bringing together smart professionals who wish to interact in an exchange of ideas and network-building.

During the interview process, the interviewer asked me, “What do you consider to be the greatest asset to your success?” I was both surprised and temporarily stumped. I hadn’t been asked that question before and for a moment I didn’t know how to reply. Pondering the question for a few more moments, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

To the question then, I simply replied, “The greatest asset to my success is the people I have been fortunate enough to meet, know and connect with.” Now he was surprised and stumped. He curiously followed up my reply with “Could you elaborate on that answer a bit?” I said, “Sure, I’m glad to do it.”

You see, during that moment of truth and new level of self-awareness, something became blazingly apparent. My success, both personally and professionally, is unequivocally linked to the people who have helped me achieve my goals. Either directly or indirectly, my family, friends and mentors have taught me a great deal about personal growth and effective self-leadership. Some of the lessons were quite painful but nonetheless well worth the temporary discomfort. Whether it was on the job, from a book, from the web or directly from one of my mentors, I am able to succeed against all odds because I am open to continuously learning, growing and changing in all areas of my life.

To add to this, my greatest passion has always been to help other people grow – to share all the wonderful things that I’ve learned and that have changed my life so positively. As I improve upon my personal growth, I emphatically and passionately seek to pass on what I have learned to others who are also ready and willing to work on themselves. I am a firm believer in the simple truth that if you help others succeed, you will also succeed. I believe that this world would be a far better place and we would be a far more productive and effective society if we each did our part to help our fellow men and women achieve their dreams and goals.

As I’ve clearly stated throughout this post, I would not have achieved the success that I have in my life had it not been for the people who helped me. As cliché as it might sound, people really do make the world go ‘round. Can you imagine the significance of the change that would happen if we each committed to helping just one person achieve his/her dreams and goals? Wow… this is a world in which I want to live, how about you?

So, to come full circle with the question, I started this blog to help other people achieve their dreams and goals through the Powerful Principles of Personal Growth and effective self-leadership. I am passionate about your success because I believe deeply in the human potential, especially in the untapped human potential. I believe it would be a disservice to you if I do not impart what I have learned so that you might improve yourself and maximize your potential. My aim is to “pay it forward” as so eloquently illustrated in the movie of the same title.

Why Now?

Again, a question that begs to be answered and again, I’m going to do just that.

For me, the question is, if not now… when? I decided to start this blog now because there will never be a more perfect time than now to start giving back in a way that truly fulfills me. I will never stop learning and growing and improving myself. Personal growth is a passion that goes to my core… I live it and breathe it daily. Effective self-leadership is what it takes to put the powerful principles of personal growth into practice that eventually become the habits of success.

Frankly, I’ve had this “itch” for a very long time and if I don’t “scratch” it, I’m going to go crazy. Maybe the trigger was becoming a father for the second time, I don’t really know. What I do know is that every fiber of my being is compelling me to move in this direction – to focus on helping others achieve their dreams and goals. As I look at my children, I am repeatedly reminded that I want so much more for them than I am able to achieve in my lifetime. I want them to be surrounded, as I am, by awesome people who will help pave the way for them to reach for the stars. In essence, I want to leave my children a far better world than the one I was born into… better than the one they were born into.

What better way to do that than to help other people achieve their dreams and goals and reach their full potential. The world can only be better if the people in it are better… there is simply no other way. As the John Mayer song goes, “We keep waiting on the world to change” instead of changing the world. So in my own way and in my own small part, I doing my best to change the world for the better by helping you change for the better. I believe that in all situations, people come first. That’s why I begin each day deciding how I am going to make a difference in someone’s life today… how I am going to be in the world.

Furthermore, time waits for no one; so the longer I wait, the longer someone I could be helping has to wait and I don’t know about you but waiting has never been one of my strong suits. In fact, I still have a lot of personal growing to do in the area of patience – I struggle with that one every day. In this case though, I don’t mind telling you that the virtue of patience is not one I’m not going to exercise… so that’s why now.

I mean seriously, why not now? Who’s to tell me I can’t take the next step in my personal growth to help others? That’s right – no one!

I am the master of my fate; I am responsible for my personal growth and self-leadership. My happiness rests with my desires and actions; I am the author of my life. So, if I want to spend my time giving back to others through the same principles that have brought me so much success, who’s to stop me?

What Can You Expect From This Website?

First and foremost, this website is about you and your success. Taking responsibility for your own personal growth is a serious matter and I treat it as such – as you undoubtedly do. There are no shortcuts or quick fixes for this; it is a process that takes time. My aim is to arm you with the knowledge and insights you need to create your own success; to develop habits based on universal, unchanging and correct principles; natural laws.

I will tell you plainly that none of the information you will read or the insights you will discover on this website are new concepts. Yes, the value is delivered in my own unique way and is largely based on my personal and professional experiences; however, the underlying principles are universal, unchanging and irrefutable. They have been proven time and time again by many great individuals throughout history – no secret there.

This website will provide you with practical and real-world life examples where you can apply these powerful principles.  No matter what situation you are currently in, applying the principles that you will discover on this website will help you develop effective self-leadership habits that will undoubtedly lead to significant and quantum positive changes in your life.
